The River Wye offers several canoeing and kayaking opportunities with get in and outs. Paddle gently down with a local company who can offer their equipment to hire.
There are footpaths on our doorstep here offering green hills but travel accross the Brecon Beacons national park and black mountains to reach the breathtaking views, day-long routes and waterfalls. OS maps can be purchased in town from outdoor shops. Herefordshire also offers beautiful golden valley walks.
Bring your own bikes or rent from nearby towns and enjoy the quieter country roads. This area offers exhilerating mountain biking and leisurely routes from pub to pub! Herefordshire even offers a Cider Cycling route.
Fish by day and cook it at our holiday home in the evening on the BBQ or with our fish kettle. The River Wye has some of the best trout, sea trout salmon greyling and course fishing Wales has to offer. Fishing licenses are available in Hay-on-Wye or book your game and course fishing with the Wye and Usk foundation online. Info can be found on their website wyeuskfoundation.org
BHPA members bring your wing and fly from many spots in the Brecon Beacons over the undulating green landscapes of Mid Wales.

Books, Boutiques, Towns and Villages
We are lucky enough to be next to the independant town of books; Hay-on-Wye. Not only does it offer peaceful bookshops but fantastic boutique shopping and everything a small town should have. Wonder the gift shops, explore the antique shops and vintage ware stalls. Take a tour of the local towns and discover their history and charm.
Herefordshire and Mid Wales offer some great National Park sites and local museums offer a great way of unearthing the history of this bordering area. Seek Arthurs Stone, Kilpeck Church and the Mappa Mundi.
Churches, Cathedrals and Castles
The town of Hereford holds the nearest Cathedral and Clifford itself has a church with fantastic views across the valley to Hay Bluff and just a short walk away.
Our spot in the country has some of the darkest skies perfect for stargazing on a clear night. The Brecon Beacons now boasts one of the highest quality dark skies in the UK.
Throughout the year the local calendar is spotted with food, music or literary festivals for all the family.
Pubs, Restaurants, Cafe's and Bars
Head to many local public houses with sloping floors and old beams dating as far back as the 1100's. Cosy up next to a fire in the winter time and drink in the beer gardens when the sun is shining. Herefordshire and Mid Wales offer fantastic local sourced meals. Herefordshire is home to cider trees and brilliant cider. Local brewed pints are served around Herefordshire. Cider mill visits are also available.
Perfect for novices and confident riders contact our local trekking centres to book your riding experience, a fun way of capturing the views
We are lucky enough to have butchers and green grocers in local towns here, so much so they will know the farmers name that produced the meat if you ask them. Market days are a perfect opportunity to try our tasty local treats direct from the producers.
The Brecon beacons offer icey wild mountain lakes, wild swimming, gorge walking and recreational lakes like Llangorse for sailing and rafting.
Go potholing and caving with an experienced team or for experienced cavers find your own way around the limestone rocks of the beacons. Definitely an exhilerating sport not for the feint hearted. A fantastic one for the kids.
A great choice for group parties, reunions and work trips.
